Since 2001 Palmyra Communications Company has offered translation, interpretation, and language instruction services to American and European clients. The primary focus is on the English, Estonian, German and Russian languages.
The company can accommodate for small and large service requests ranging from a birth certificate translation to patents and technical white papers. They have interpreted for Ukrainian journalists, food additive chemists touring a hickory smoke factory and Kirov National Theatre performing at The John F. Kennedy Center. They are also pleased with their third year of teaching to the Uzbekistani Ambassador to the US and his staff. The company also offers Oral Porficiency Interview Testing (OPI), as well as language course, textbook and test development services.

Leading the company is the founder, Sofia Kasmeridi, who began a part-time attempt to start a small business. Sofia obtained her BA in English from Tallinn Pedagogical University in Tallinn, Estonia and an MA in Linguistics from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. The company quickly expanded into on-site interpretation, softcopy translation and teaching services partly due to the international consortium in the greater Washington
DC Metropolitan Area.
